This course is directed at engineers, scientists, and managers, both newcomers to the field and specialists in search of a broader perspective, who would benefit from an overview of V/STOL aircraft performance and technologies.
The course highlights the technical challenges associated with aircraft that have vertical and short take-off and landing performance. Fundamental concepts, technologies, and critical sub-systems will be presented. Both successful and unsuccessful aircraft programs will be reviewed for their important lessons. The requirements of new military V/STOL aircraft will be discussed with particular emphasis on the Joint Strike Fighter. Expert speakers will be from the US and UK industries, the government and academia.
