There are thousands of networking organizations in every business community – what makes The Patuxent Partnership different?
Exclusive Platform: There is no other organization like us. Our non-profit model defies pat characterizations. Our business members are competitors, yet they collaborate under our auspices. Government offices and agencies – local, state, federal and international – work with us to develop connections and create opportunities. Academic institutions join with The Partnership to increase professional development initiatives for adults, along with growing science and math interest in young minds.
Comprehensive Focus: The Partnership spotlights efforts to grow the technology hub of the Southern Maryland region, by hosting briefings and sharing information on topics that give our membership an edge.
A well-educated workforce is critical for the growth of technology business. The Partnership supports initiatives for advanced education, as well as educational initiatives in math and science for K-12.
Cultural events enrich communities. The shared experience deepens social relationships. People do business with people they know. The Patuxent Partnership supports community organizations which provide unique and culturally rich events and initiatives that bring people together.
Significant Hub: The Patuxent Partnership works aggressively to develop important connections across Maryland, the United States, and the world. Our networks continue to grow, as we reduce the degrees of separation between our members and key players in government, academia and industry.
Important Relationships: Key leaders reach out to The Patuxent Partnership when they want to deliver information through our connections. They know we will deliver the message and deliver the audience because we have a solid reputation as honest broker.
We have solid working relationships with many federal offices and agencies, including the Office of the Secretary of Defense, TRADOC, NASA, NATO, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, NAVAIR and Naval Surface Warfare Center, to name a few. Our relationships arise in part from our role in managing an Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) Mobility Program. The program, providing for the temporary assignment of personnel between the Federal Government and qualified providers, meets critical personnel requirements and serves an important public purpose.
When available, our IPA staff briefs our members and the larger community about critical government programs. These briefings create an environment of opportunity and development not usually available in symposia and conferences.
Recent briefings included Red Team University, TRADOC ISR Integration, Naval Energetics Enterprise (NEE), AIRSpeed LSS and the Clinger-Cohen Center of Excellence, to name a few.
The Partnership’s History: Begun as an ideal unlikely to be attained, the model for The Patuxent Partnership was cutting-edge and visionary – to bring together the key economic drivers in a community to collaborate on growth for the betterment of all. It is easy to give lip-service to the pursuit of this kind of goal, yet difficult to sustain it over a period of time.
Incubating an idea proposed by community leaders, the St. Mary’s County business development office nurtured the nascent organization into an independent membership organization. With a headquarters staff and subject matter experts on assignment to government agencies in the U.S. and abroad, The Partnership is a key conduit in the flow of information about technology business development, government contracting, workforce development, math and science education and workforce retention.
The Patuxent Partnership has successfully pursued the ideal for ten years and, maintaining the momentum, is moving into the next state of growth towards the realization of that ideal. Committed to proactive marketing of our members’ products and services, along with the expansion of technology opportunities, as we continue to pursue our vision, we are on a fast track for exponential growth. Our members know why they like us: they find information through The Partnership they find nowhere else and the cross-fertilization of ideas and opportunities is unique and energetic. Staff enthusiasm and responsiveness is unequalled – all qualities that suggest that, perhaps, the ideal may, one day, be within our reach.
